Perform

The Perform page is Floe's distraction-free home: a place to audition presets, dial-in variations, and play with macros without the fuss of the per-layer or effects controls. The library's background image fills the panel, keeping you connected to the character of the sound.

Floe's Perform page

The controls on this page are presented from elsewhere in Floe. Use Layers and Effects to dive deeper into sound design; stay on Perform when you just want to find the right sound with no fuss.

Browsing presets

The library and preset name sit large at the top, with chevrons either side to step through presets (these chevrons perform the same action as the ones in the top panel). The current folder appears as a small badge below, and the name is suffixed with (modified) once you've changed anything.

A chevron near the middle of the page hides the bottom controls entirely, leaving just the preset name and the library's full background image — useful when performing or browsing presets visually. The setting persists between sessions.

Shaping the sound

Below the artwork are the four macro knobs (labelled with names chosen by the preset author), and a view of each layer: the loaded instrument and folder, its waveform, a peak meter, and a volume slider. Click an instrument name to open the browser.

The Random Variation strip generates fresh takes on the current sound — click further right for wilder results, further left to stay close to what you have. The shuffle button on the left re-rolls using the last amount.

Comparing your edits

The Compare toggle flips between Original (the preset as it was loaded) and Modified (your current edited state) — handy for A/B-ing changes. Editing while viewing Original discards your modifications.

Alongside, the description column shows the preset author's notes when the preset includes them (labelled Description). When it doesn't, Floe fills in a short Auto Description summarising the instruments and effects in use, so you always have some context for what you're hearing.
